Center of attention: In 2002, ECpE Professor Suraj Kothari founded the software engineering company, EnSoft Corporation. Since then, the software tools Kothari and his colleagues created have attracted interest from many major avionics, automotive, and software companies, including BMW, Caterpillar, Ford, General Motors, General Electric, Honeywell, Jaguar, Toyota, Microsoft, Motorola, Rockwell Collins, and Volvo. The software tools execute complex analysis and transformation tasks in second, rather than hours.
Tools of the trade: EnSoft offers two different tools: The first, SimDiff, tackles the development of control software found in products such as anti-lock brakes, toasters, flight systems, and elevators. The second tool, Atlas, helps software engineers and programmers analyze software code to understand how it works.
A good break: Kothari recently participated in the second annual statewide John Pappajohn Business Plan Competition, where he took home the top prize of $25,000. Kothari says this accomplishment proves that his company is on the right track.
