All students are invited to attend the following special seminar:

Seminar: Digital Design Coding Techniques

Speaker: Richard Thousand, Director of IC Engineering, Clariphy Communications

Date: February 10

Time: 2:10 to 4 p.m.

Location: 1041 ECpE Building Addition

Abstract: The seminar will cover the following topics:

  • Verilog Design (this is not a beginner's class)
  • Understanding Basic Synthesis and Timing
  • Basic Digital Design Concepts
  • Digital Design for ASICs

Speaker biography: Richard Thousand is a 1983 Iowa State University graduate. He has spent the last two years at Clariphy Communications, Inc. as director of IC Engineering, leading 10G Fiber ASIC designs. Prior to that, he spent nine years at Broadcom Corp. as a design manager, leading/designing 10/100/1G Ethernet PHY ASICs. He also spent 13 years at Rockwell/Boeing as a senior design/lead engineer leading/designing digital communication/processor ASICs.
