International students are very welcome at Iowa State University, especially in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. You have a unique set of challenges that are very different from our domestic students. Iowa State has a very active set of International Programs in place to help international students.
Your main resource will be the International Students and Scholars Office located in Room 3248 & 3242 Memorial Union. They have a centralized location for you to gather information or meet with advisers concerning the challenges of being an international student at Iowa State.
Many of our undergraduate international students come to Iowa State as transfer students. International Students follow the same rules as other transfer students.
When you come to Orientation you will be required to take the English Placement Exam to determine your proficiency in reading, writing, and listening of English.
The results of that test will determine how many English courses you must complete at Iowa State to obtain your degree. (There are a minimum of three required English courses in our curriculum.)
