Concurrent students are admitted in either the electrical engineering or computer engineering graduate program while still working on their undergraduate degrees. They become full-time graduate students after the completion of their undergraduate degree program.
Suggested course schedules with fall or spring entry
1. Meet with your academic adviser to discuss the concurrent program and complete the Undergraduate Advisor's Form (MS Word).
2. If you have additional questions about the concurrent degree program, you may meet with the ECpE Student Services Manager (2205 Coover Hall).
3. Fill out a Concurrent Enrollment for Undergraduate/Graduate Degrees Form (MS Word) from the Graduate College Web site (under Concurrent Student Request Forms section).
4. Follow steps number 2 and 3 on the Concurrent Enrollment for Undergraduate/Graduate Degrees Form, and provide all documentation to the ECpE Student Services Office in 2205 Coover Hall. The department will route the form to get all necessary signatures.
You can obtain many graduate forms from the Graduate College Web site.
Applications for the current program must be received by September 15 (to enter in the program in the spring) or January 15 (to enter the program in the fall).
The Graduate College Admissions Office will receive the online information and will forward it to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Attention: Director of Graduate Education (DOGE), who will sign for acceptance or denial.
The department will communicate the approval or denial to the Graduate College and Admissions Office and the student will receive a letter with the final decision. To check on the status of your application, see the ECpE Graduate Secretary, 2205 Coover Hall.
Students admitted into the program are eligible for a 1/4 time teaching assistantship for up to 3 semesters of enrollment which includes one semester of concurrent enrollment and 2 semesters after the completion of undergraduate requirements. this is a competitive process.
Once requirements for undergraduate study are met, students are then eligible for a 1/2 time graduate assistantship as a 1/4 time teaching assistant and a 1/4 research assistant. This depends upon major professor research funds and likely will be given only to students pursuing the thesis option.
If on an assistantship, student also are eligible for in-state tuition costs under the Graduate College scholarship.
